Amazon and Openbank Pay launch flexible payment options in Poland

Amazon and Openbank Pay, Santander's digital consumer finance platform, have launched flexible payment options for customers shopping on Amazon.pl. The service gives eligible users the choice between short-term deferred payment and longer instalment financing.

The launch extends an existing partnership between the two companies that is already active in Germany, Austria and Spain.

Customers can pay later or spread purchases into instalments

Under the new service, customers in Poland can choose to pay within 30 days without interest for purchases between EUR 18 and EUR 236. They can also spread payments over three to 60 months for purchases ranging from EUR 23 to EUR 2,950.

To use the financing option, customers select Openbank Pay as the payment method on the product page or during checkout. They then complete an application and receive a decision online.

The financing covers most product categories

The new payment methods are available for most product categories on Amazon.pl, including electronics, computers, toys, home improvement products and kitchen items.

The service does not apply to Amazon gift cards, grocery products, selected digital products such as music, video, e-books, apps and game downloads, or pre-order and out-of-stock items.

According to Amazon and Openbank Pay, the new options will be rolled out gradually to eligible customers over the coming weeks.

Poland becomes another market in the Amazon and Openbank Pay partnership

The Polish rollout builds on previous launches in Germany, Austria and Spain. In Spain, Amazon customers have had access to similar financing since September 2025, although instalment plans there are limited to four to 40 months.

Katarzyna Ciechanowska-Ciosk, Country Leader of Amazon.pl, said the new option is designed to give customers more choice during checkout. The 30-day payment option and instalment plans are integrated directly into the existing purchase flow rather than operating as a separate service.

Embedded finance expands further into ecommerce checkout

The launch reflects the broader development of consumer financing embedded directly into ecommerce checkout. Banks, digital finance platforms and online retailers are increasingly integrating credit and deferred payment products into the purchase process.

A Chargeflow report cited in the source estimates that Europe accounted for around 25.9% of global BNPL revenue, with BNPL gross merchandise value in the region reaching about USD 191.3 billion in 2025. The figure is expected to rise to USD 293.7 billion by 2030.

For Santander, the Amazon partnership expands Openbank Pay's presence across additional European markets and strengthens its role as an embedded financing provider for ecommerce.
