Flutterwave and Kulipa are partnering to launch stablecoin-based payment cards across Africa
Flutterwave has announced a strategic partnership with Kulipa, as well as with Turnkey and Our Nuvion, aimed at introducing stablecoin-based payment cards and improving access to digital assets across Africa.
This announcement came following the official launch of the Kulipa platform and reflects the growing momentum in the development of infrastructure that enables the use of stablecoins for everyday payments at merchants that accept cards.
According to these companies, this partnership creates a comprehensive payment ecosystem—encompassing wallets, payment channels, and card issuance—designed to simplify the use of stablecoins for both consumers and businesses.
Flutterwave announced that it is working with partners such as Turnkey and Our Nuvion to strengthen the infrastructure necessary for the seamless processing of digital asset transactions. The company added that future enhancements will enable businesses using its platform to transition from holding stablecoins to using them directly, which will increase the flexibility of cross-border and everyday transactions.
Kulipa emphasized that this partnership represents a step toward a fully integrated stablecoin payment system for merchants across Africa, combining wallet infrastructure, payment channels, and card processing into a single, cohesive system.
The companies claim that this initiative is part of broader efforts aimed at addressing usability issues related to the implementation of stablecoins and opening up opportunities for the use of digital currencies in real-world payment transactions on the continent.
