Form3 launches AI-enabled payments platform for banks and fintechs

Form3 has launched an AI-enabled payments platform that gives banks and fintechs controlled access to payment information. The solution allows authorised AI agents to support payment operations while keeping AI applications outside the payment flow itself.

The platform is designed to help financial institutions retrieve and interpret payment information more efficiently. Form3 has structured the service so that AI can assist operational teams without gaining the ability to initiate or modify transactions.

MCP adaptor provides read-only access to payment data

The first phase of the platform includes a Model Context Protocol adaptor for Form3's payments infrastructure. MCP provides a standardised way for AI platforms and agents to connect with external tools and data sources.

Through the adaptor, authorised AI applications can retrieve existing payment information using Form3's API. Access is read-only, which means AI agents cannot initiate payments, change payment data or make payment decisions.

AI supports payment operations and investigations

The functionality is aimed at payment operations teams investigating and resolving payment issues. Employees and authorised AI agents can use natural language to retrieve and interpret payment information through an AI interface.

This allows teams to search and review payment data without manually moving between different systems and information sources. Form3 said the platform is also intended to support teams dealing with higher transaction volumes and emerging payment models such as tokenised payments and digital assets.

Existing security controls remain in place

The AI functionality uses the same data and security controls already applied to Form3's payments platform. Existing access rules continue to govern payment information when it is retrieved through the AI interface.

This means Form3 is adding an AI access layer without introducing a separate security framework. The platform's existing controls continue to determine what information can be accessed and by whom.

AI is added to Form3's existing payment infrastructure

Form3's current platform connects banks and fintechs to payment rails across North America, the UK and Europe through a single API. The new AI functionality adds another way to retrieve and interpret payment information within that infrastructure.

Form3 has not disclosed further details about the commercial availability of the AI functionality or its pricing.
