KORT Payments to acquire AptPay to expand real-time payments

Omnichannel payments provider KORT Payments has signed a definitive agreement to acquire 100% of AptPay, a Canada-based payments technology company. AptPay focuses on real-time payments and payment orchestration. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions.

One integration for multiple payment rails

AptPay gives businesses a single integration for moving funds across multiple payment rails. These include Mastercard Send, Visa Original Credit Transaction (OCT), Interac e-Transfer, EFT, ACH, Real Time Payments (RTP), FedNow, and cross-border transfers. Businesses can route payments across the available rails without connecting to each one separately.

The platform also includes tools for know your customer (KYC), anti-money laundering (AML), and sanctions screening. AptPay serves merchants and platforms in Canada and the United States, with a focus on gaming and gambling, digital assets, and financial services.

Expanding KORT’s offering

The acquisition is set to extend KORT’s business beyond card acceptance into account-to-account payments and disbursements. Customers will be able to collect and send funds through one provider and a consolidated platform. Danny Chazonoff, President and Chief Operating Officer of KORT Payments, said AptPay’s real-time payout and orchestration capabilities complement KORT’s platform and will enable the combined business to support money movement across North America.

US expansion and next steps

The deal supports KORT’s growth strategy by broadening its product range and helping accelerate its expansion in the US. AptPay already supports US rails such as ACH, RTP, and FedNow, as well as Canadian options including Interac e-Transfer and EFT. Combining card acceptance with real-time payouts will allow KORT to handle both incoming and outgoing payment flows for its customers.

After closing, AptPay will operate as a KORT division under its existing brand. Shams Syed, AptPay’s Chief Executive Officer, will continue to lead the business unit. Customer and partner support is expected to continue without interruption. Syed said that joining KORT will help AptPay scale faster and extend its reach across North America and beyond, drawing on both teams’ experience in building and scaling payments businesses.
