Trust Payments launches virtual cards for travel firms with Weavr
UK-based payments provider Trust Payments has launched virtual cards for travel businesses. Developed with embedded finance provider Weavr, the product lets eligible companies pay approved suppliers with single-use Visa cards in GBP and EUR. Trust Payments says the cards are designed to give travel firms better visibility and control over supplier payments.
Each payment linked to a booking
The cards are Visa Commercial Choice Travel (VCCT) cards. They are designed for automated supplier settlements and business travel payments. Each card is linked to an individual booking, connecting booking and payment data to help finance teams identify, track and reconcile transactions.
Businesses fund their account by bank transfer and make payments from the available balance. Single-use card details cannot be reused, and transactions are monitored in real time to help reduce fraud risk. Trust Payments may pay rebates on eligible supplier payments, with rates depending on the card and supplier type.
Availability and dispute support
The service is available to eligible travel businesses in the UK and the European Economic Area. Companies must complete business verification and anti-money laundering checks. Weavr (Europe) Ltd issues cards in the EEA, while B4B Payments issues them in the UK.
Booking data linked to a card may support a chargeback claim if a supplier fails to deliver. Any recovery depends on card scheme rules and is not guaranteed. According to WEX's 2025 report on protecting travel intermediaries, WEX has recovered close to USD 60 million through chargebacks following 14 airline failures since 2017.
Extending payment services
Trust Payments already helps travel businesses accept customer payments. The new cards extend its services to outgoing payments to suppliers. Laurence Booth, Group CEO of Trust Payments, said travel businesses have to manage money moving in both directions. He added that linking supplier payments to bookings gives firms a clearer view of outgoing spend and reduces manual reconciliation.
Alex Mifsud, CEO and Co-Founder of Weavr, said embedded virtual card issuing allows merchant acquirers to add supplier payments to their acquiring services without building the capability themselves.
