Fipto becomes the first payment institution for stablecoins with dual licensing in Europe
Fipto becomes Europe's first dual-licensed payment institution for stablecoins.
Fipto, a leading regulated payment infrastructure for stablecoins, has obtained a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) license from the French regulator Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF). With this milestone, Fipto becomes the first European player in the stablecoin payments space to hold both a Payment Institution (PI) license and a full CASP license.
Dual authorization status allows Fipto to manage the entire payment chain, combining traditional fiat currencies with digital assets within a single, consistent regulatory compliance model.
By combining its payment institution license (ACPR) with its CASP license (AMF) in France, Fipto proactively adapts to the latest recommendations of the European Banking Authority (EBA) regarding the interaction of payment services with MiCA regulation. This unified model allows the company to control every stage of a transaction, ensuring maximum security and high operational speed.
As MiCA establishes itself as the global benchmark for digital asset regulation, the authorization process itself is becoming a rigorous filter for the entire industry.
Fipto takes full control of the entire end-to-end transaction lifecycle, providing the most rigorous oversight of both euros and stablecoins within a single institution. This unified infrastructure is accessible through a single API and provides key operational advantages for payment service providers (PSPs), large enterprises, funds, and brokers.
Vertical integration enables the management of fiat deposits, currency exchange, and blockchain settlements without the involvement of external intermediaries, ensuring full transparency and faster global flows.
This milestone creates a crucial "safe harbor" for companies in the context of the upcoming MiCA deadline, which falls on July 1, 2026.
With the expiry of the existing temporary regulatory regimes across the European Union, many providers will not be able to ensure the continuity of services or cross-border operations.
Thanks to EU passporting, Fipto guarantees its clients uninterrupted, fully regulated access to the entire European market.
„Uzyskanie licencji MiCA to coś więcej niż kamień milowy regulacyjny – to dowód, że nasza infrastruktura spełnia rygory najbardziej dojrzałych instytucji finansowych na świecie” – powiedział Patrick Mollard, CEO i współzałożyciel Fipto. „Od struktur ładu korporacyjnego po protokoły zarządzania ryzykiem zbudowaliśmy platformę zapewniającą transparentność i odporność, jakich oczekują spółki publiczne oraz najwięksi uczestnicy rynku finansowego. Łącząc ramy PI i CASP, oferujemy pierwszą prawdziwie instytucjonalnej klasy bramę dla globalnych płatności opartych o stablecoiny.”
